Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Samagra Shiksha has said that the duplications in enrolment due to registration of students at more than one institution had caused a ‘misreading’ regarding the enrolment of students. An official informed the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “There were duplications in enrolment due to registration of student at more than one institution, which has been clearly diminished with the introduction of Permanent Enrolment No (PEN) as AADHAR seeding has been done for all 13.84 lakh children.” The official said that the data entry of new admissions has not been done on Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) Portal as there is a fixed time of opening of the portal in an academic session. “It also remains important, to highlight the discrepancies in enrolment figures, updated at school level, including the sudden dip or rise before certification of data and for which verification has been ordered,” he said. The official further said that the reasons for the issues like typing errors, shifting of students to ITIs, failure cases etc were being collected. “The variation has come in the notice for 554 Schools, which includes government as well private schools.” “After examining the data, it has also come to fore, that the data has been captured from the districts, 21,780 students have moved for various professional courses after 10th Class,” he said. He further said, “There is overall increasing trend in the enrolment in government schools of the UT for the last three years and substantial increase in the pre-primary enrolment.”—(KNO)
